10 Tips To Extend Your iPhone Battery

Just a few top tips to extend your iPhone Battery life.

1.Prevent Background App Refresh

A very clever feature on your iPhone it looks at the apps you use, the time of day you use them and then makes sure they are updated before you use it next. If you check Facebook every morning when you wake say 7am then the IOS learns that this app needs to be updated before 7am. A little invasive when you think about it!

  1. Open Settings app
  2. General
  3. Background App Refresh
  4. Disable the feature entirely or just for specific apps that you want to use it with.

2. Don't Automatically Update Apps

This feature automatically updates the apps you have downloaded. You can switch this feature off and manually update the most common apps you use.

  1. Open Settings app
  2. iTunes & App ?Store
  3. In the ?Automatic? ?Downloads? section, find Updates
  4. Move slider to Off/white

3. Turn on Auto-Brightness

Screen brightness on an iPhone is controlled by something called the ambient light sensor which is located under the screen, you can’t see it. The job of this sensor is to calculate out how much light is available and adjust the screen accordingly.

6. Turn Bluetooth Off

Bluetooth is great when your using it but when you don’t use it for days on end then why have it on?

7. Turn off Mobile Data or Limit Applications Using Data

Your iPhone can be set to automatically use data to for your apps. By reducing the number of times your iPhone connects with the network you will extend your iPhones battery life.

  4. Or Just Deselect the App you do not want to use data for

every time you upload data your using battery life so if you limit the time you backup to iCloud this will help with battery consumption.

9. One Common Mistake: Quitting Apps Doesn't Save Battery

This is the most common mistake when talking about battery life. Quitting your apps or leaving them to run in the background makes no difference as your iPhone uses 0% processing power once the app is in the background

10. Run Down Your Battery As Much As Possible

This is counter intuitive but one of the modern quirks of batteries. You do not have to run down your battery to 0%. Lithium ion batteries are not designed to be completely discharged and do not have a “memory” like older batteries.
